Crawford scores 52 points as Knicks burn Heat

Basketball Betting Lines

01/27/2007 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Jamal Crawford lit up the Heat for a career- high 52 points, hitting 20-of-30 from the field, and 8-of-10 from behind the arc, to lead New York Knicks' 116-96 rout of the Miami Heat.

Channing Frye added 16 points for New York, which snapped a two-game skid with the win. David Lee scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Stephon Marbury tallied 13 assists and nine points in the win.

Crawford's career night obscured a 37-point performance by Miami's Dwyane Wade. Antoine Walker added 12 points off the bench for the Heat, who have lost two straight and four of five. Shaquille O'Neal and Jason Kapono added 11 points apiece for Miami.

The Knicks, behind an unconscious shooting performance by Crawford, put the game away in the third quarter. Crawford rebounded from missing his first shots by making his next 16, three shy of a Knicks record. He hit his first eight three-pointers, including one that bulged the New York lead to 23 points, at 76-53, midway through the third quarter. Crawford scored 23 points in the third quarter alone, and had 46 points entering the fourth quarter.

The Heat never made a game of it in the final 12 minutes, as the main story became Crawford, and how many points he would finish with. The seventh-year guard took a seat shortly after hitting a jumper with 6:59 left in the game, a basket that put New York up 110-85, and bested his previous career-high of 50 points in the process.

Wade kept the Heat in the game early, scoring 13 points in the first quarter. Crawford, in a sign of what was to come, hit a three with 1:28 left in the quarter that tied the game at 25-25. Jason Williams and Kapono answered with back-to-back threes, though, and the Heat took a 33-27 lead into the second quarter.

Crawford heated up in the second quarter, scoring 20 points in the stanza. He closed the first half notably, with a four-point play in the final seconds that closed a 15-2 Knicks stretch, giving New York a 65-49 lead at the break.

Game Notes

Crawford set a career-high with his eight three-pointers, topping his previous best of seven...Crawford also scored 23 points in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's 112-107 loss to the Phoenix Suns...The Knicks played without starting center Eddy Curry, who left Wednesday's game against Phoenix with a left calf injury.

Stanley Cup betting

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.

The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.

MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.

Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.

March Madness odds and printable March Madness brackets

With the field of 64/65 set, MySportsbook.com has the Florida Gators as the 4-1 favorite to successfully defend their National Championship.  Men’s Division-1 College Basketball has not seen a team repeat as National Champions since Duke won back to back championships in ’91 & ‘92.  After losing three out of four late in the season, the Gators are full of momentum as they won their last four games by an average of 18 points.  Not surprisingly, right behind the Gators are the other three top seeds: Kansas 5-1, UNC 6-1, and Ohio State 7-1.  Many consider Kansas to be the hottest team in the country, having won 11 straight. With Kansas, it is hard to ignore all of the early exits from the “dance” in recent years.  With an impressive ACC Tournament, UNC ensured themselves the other top seed.  UNC has about as much talent as any other team in the tournament but with a team that’s best players are primarily freshman and sophomores, could youth be a concern.  Behind freshman sensation, Greg Oden, OSU will look to do what their football team failed to do just a few months earlier.  OSU seems to have peeked at the right time, as they currently have a 17 game winning streak.  Since the tournament field was expanded in 1985, there has never been an instance where all four #1 seeds advanced to the Final Four.  It is obvious that each of the top seeds have the talent to make it through to Atlanta.  But as everyone knows, when makes the NCAA Tournament so special are all of the spoilers and “Cinderella” stories that knock off the favorites on a daily basis.
